Shelby is a Native Texan & was born & raised right here in Dripping Springs. Having been around farms & ranches her whole life, her true love of horses began at the age of three. Shelby began riding seriously at age twelve & started barrel racing at age fourteen. She was fortunate enough to be trained by our owner, Charles Jobin, & saw tremendous, racing success here in Central Texas.
Shelby came to work for XLR8 Ranch in 2016 & has been our lead, riding instructor since 2019. Her passion, patience & expertise make her an outstanding instructor. When asked what her favorite thing is about her job, she said, "To watch those that truly love horses & have the drive to become incredibly, powerful people. My students go from unsure & second guessing themselves to confident, strong individuals & skilled riders. It's an amazing transformation to watch & I'm honored be a part of it."
Shelby believes that horses are "unbelievably brilliant yet the most humbling creatures." She is in awe of how "horses know every move you're going to make, even before you make it." Shelby believes that there is nothing like the connection between horse & human and how "they know your every thought, show you what you need to work on & help push you to become the person you're working towards,"
Shelby is an extremely dedicated, hard worker & when you visit the ranch, you'll almost always find her there. When she does decide to take a well-deserved break, she loves hanging out with her friends & spending time with her dogs.
XLR8 Ranch is so fortunate to have Shelby on our staff. Once you meet her, you'll agree, she's incredibly kind, humble & down-to-earth & one of THE BEST horseback riding instructors around!
